There are many great organizations that provide powerful resources for improving the lives of Wilmington residents. One of our goals as a community-based organization is to help connect Northeast residents to existing resources.

Wilmington Housing Authority
Section 32 Home Ownership Program: “[The Wilmington Housing Authority] offers classes and counseling in a one-on-one setting focusing on the areas of credit repair, budgeting, financial literacy, home buying, and minor home repair / maintenance.”
New Castle County
Architectural Accessibility Program: “The Architectural Accessibility Program is a grant program designed to enhance the ability of a qualified household member to safely function in their home and enter and exit the home safely.”
Emergency Home Repair Loan Program: “The Emergency Home Repair Loan Program is a 0% mortgage loan program providing assistance to eligible homeowners faced with a condition determined to be dangerous to the life, health, property, and safety of the occupants of the home.”
Homeowner Rehabilitation Direct Loan Program: “The Homeowner Rehabilitation Direct Loan Program is an affordable home repair program designed to enable qualified homeowners to have repairs and improvements made which are necessary to free their homes of health and safety hazards.”
Minor Home Repair Program: “This grant program is designed to assist eligible homeowners who need small repairs to their homes.”
Senior Home Loan Repair Program: “The Senior Home Repair Loan Program is a deferred 0% interest loan program designed to provide assistance to eligible homeowners who need more extensive repairs to their homes than the Senior Minor Home Repair Grant Program provides.”
Delaware State Housing Authority/Milford Housing Development Corporation:
Statewide Emergency Repair Program: “The Statewide Emergency Repair Program (SERP) addresses emergency conditions threatening the safety of qualified Delaware owner-occupants and household members. The SERP provides qualified emergency home repairs to qualified homeowners.”
Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environment Control (DNREC)
Weatherization Assistance Program: “The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) reduces energy costs for low-income households by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes. In addition, the program makes people’s homes healthier, safer, and more comfortable.”
Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County
A Brush with Kindness: “A Brush with Kindness” is an effort to serve homeowners who live in low-income housing and struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. Focusing on exterior home improvement services, such as painting, minor exterior repairs, landscaping, roofing and exterior clean-up, A Brush with Kindness provides current homeowners with the support they need to revitalize the exterior of their home.”
Lutheran Community Services
Basic Home Repairs for Seniors & Disabled Citizens: “This program has been designed to help seniors stay in their homes safe, secure and independent. Repairs include fixing broken doors, windows, locks, railings, steps, etc. A sliding scale is used to determine rates.”
